| 6WINIT The 6WINIT project will validate the introduction of the new Mobile Wireless Internet in Europe. It will investigate and validate the set-up of one of the first European operational IPv6-3G Mobile Internet initiatives, providing the 6WINIT project customers with native IPv6 access points and native IPv6 services in a 3G environment. It will concentrate on the problems raised by the mobile dimension; it will build on the existence of an experimental fixed IPv6 environment from other initiatives, and will link into such existing infrastructures. The project will provide a number of testbeds, including one in a particular applications environment, namely healthcare. |

| Euro6IX The project will research, design and deploy a native Pan-European IPv6 network, called Euro6IX testbed. It will include the most advanced services obtainable from present technology and will follow the architecture of the current Internet (based on IPv4). It will consider all the levels needed for the worldwide deployment of the next generation Internet (regional exchange, backbone, and node levels). Euro6IX will offer advanced network services, and a repository of IPv6 enabled applications, which have been ported, adapted or enhanced, and made available for trials both within Euro6IX and to third parties. | Moby Dick In order to continue to evolve 3rd Generation mobile and wireless infrastructure towards the Internet - targeting IST 2000 IV 5.2 "Terrestrial Wireless System and Networks", the project Moby Dick will define, implement, and evaluate an IPv6-based mobility-enabled end-to-end QoS architecture starting from the current IETF's QoS models, Mobile-IPv6, and AAA framework. A representative set of interactive and distributed multimedia applications will serve to derive system requirements for the verification, validation, and demonstration of the Moby Dick architecture in a testbed comprising UMTS, 802.11 Wireless LANs and Ethernet. In case the existing applications or the underlying architectures do not provide what is required, the necessary modification will be undertaken. |

| 6NET The aim of the 6NET project is to install and operate an international pilot IPv6 network with both static and mobile components in order to gain a better understanding of IPv6 deployment issues. This network will serve to test the migration strategies for integrating IPv6 networks with existing IPv4 infrastructure. It will also serve to introduce and test new IPv6 services and applications, as well as legacy services and applications on an IPv6 infrastructure, and to evaluate address allocation, routing, and DNS operation for IPv6 networks. | GCAP GCAP aims at developing for the future Internet two new end-to-end multicast and multimedia transport protocols, embedded in a new global architecture to provide a guaranteed QoS to advanced Multimedia Multipeer Multinetwork applications. In order to rapidly experiment the proposed solutions, an efficient deployment of the communication software will be developed over an industrial IPv6 layer by using a programmable active network based technology. |

| 6INIT The 6INIT project will lead to and provide a production IPv6 transit service to facilitate high quality, high performance, operationally robust and secure IPv6 networks with a view to both wider deployment of European E-commerce and the convergence of IP-based services. The primary services addressed within the project will be: interconnection of IPv6 native applications, interconnection of IPv6 native networks, setting up of telephony and multimedia services, building IPv6 applications ( Stock Exchange, Remote Newspaper printing ), and interconnection of IPv6/IPv4 networks. Concepts for the commercial deployment of still experimental IPv6 and IPv4 differentiated and secured services will also be investigated and their capacities to make usage of Internet and Intranet technologies more reliable for business customers will be analysed. The vision of a commercially viable solution offering secure and differentiated services over the future Internet is one which helps formulate the goals to be achieved by this project. |

| DRiVE The overall objective of the DRiVE project is: 1) To enable spectrum efficient high-quality wireless IP in a heterogenous multi-radio environment. 2)To deliver in-vehicle multimedia-services, which ensure universally available access to information and support for education and entertainment. To achieve this objective the DRiVE project addresses the convergence of cellular and broadcast networks to lay the foundation for innovative IP-based multimedia services. Therefore, DRiVE tackles two key issues: 1) Inter-working of different radio systems (GSM, GPRS, UMTS, DAB, DVB-T) in a common frequency range with dynamic spectrum allocation. 2) Co-operation between network elements and applications in an adaptive manner. For that purpose, the DRiVE project realises an IPv6-based mobile infrastructure that ensures the optimised inter-working of cellular and broadcast networks. |

| EUROv6 The objective of Eurov6 is to show the usage of IPv6 products and services and their impact to anyone at anytime; realizing this objective will involve: Bringing together vendors as sponsors to test and demonstrate their devices and systems, showing various users applications based on IPv6 products and services, permanently at a few locations in Europe (“fixed Showcase”), which can be visited physically or accessed remotely through telematic means, and organizing temporary demonstrations at different locations and/or significant events like Interop (concept of “nomadic Showcase”). |

| WINE WINE´s main aim is to build fully IPv6-based globally optimized wireless Internet environment with QoS awareness. To reach this,WINE will have sub-tasks heading to the main aim. First, we [the WINE project partners] aim to implement three testbeds with simulation models dedicated for specific environments and current IPv4/v6 implementations. Second, we aim for solid theoretical understanding of wireless Internet environments. This knowledge will be verified and based on practical tests on testbeds and simulation models and large scale research networks. Based on previous results we aim to implement true wireless Internet solution that is as far as possible radiolink independent. We are building wireless IP adaptation layer, that is configurable so that it can be optimized for different platforms and links. Above the layer objective is to implement wireless Internet protocol fully compatible to current Internet world. |
