Workpackage
WP1 – Project Management
Objectives This Work-package will provide the effort necessary to ensure the
appropriate management in order to achieve a high degree of overall performance
for the project, and at the same time assessing and evaluating the quality of
the results achieved. It will care that the allocated resources for the Work
Packages are consistent with the work that will be performed in them. The
Project Co-ordinator will go in depth with the following list of important
issues: ·
To guarantee the correct progress of the work. and the technical
coherence with the specifications. ·
To disseminate and make available the partial and global results of
the project, and the documentation generated, to all the partners and to
other projects under the same programme by concertation activities. ·
To organise the necessary meetings, workshops, etc, needed for the
correct execution of the project. ·
To carry out assessment and evaluation in order to guarantee a high
quality in production of the achievements, results, deliverables and other
documents ·
To guarantee the good collaboration among all the partners work teams
is achieved |

Workpackage WP2 - Network Design and
deployment
Objectives ·
To identify and compare transition strategies from IPv4 to IPv6. ·
To characterise existing access network technologies, selecting the
most appropriate ones for trials integration regarding the IPv4 to IPv6
transition, support of required services and partners facilities. ·
To
co-ordinate the specification, set-up and operation of the international
required connections and guarantee the establishment of the required access
from local research networks to the international connections. ·
To
identify, evaluate and deploy solutions for advanced IP services, such as
end-to-end QoS, multicast, mobility and security, in order to support
collaborative work applications operation. ·
To design and deploy a Next Generation Telecommunications Network. |

Workpackage WP4
- System Exploitation, Trials and Evaluation
Objectives ·
Identify trials and experiments to provide feedback on the
functionality and performance of the network. ·
Perform trials and experiments, performing measurements and collecting
data during each experiment. ·
Provide guidelines on network configuration and design, based on the
analysis of the processed data. |
||||
Description of work The last phase of the project includes an evaluation of the tailored
collaborative work applications (WP3) over the high performance network
infrastructure deployed in the WP2.
For this purpose, LONG will perform trials in two phases First phase
will include local tests of the core networking prototype of each
institution. Second phase will include several distributed events with real
end users. One of this trial will consist of a Workshop on the area of IPv6
and transition strategies IPv4/IPv6. |
